NCAA Basketball Picks & Odds: Villanova vs. Creighton Predictions
Saturday's massive college basketball slate is here and so is Drew Martin, ready to break down his picks for the day. Drew starts out with perhaps the biggest game of the day, as No. 5 Villanova travels to No. 19 Creighton as road favorites. He closes it out with his pick for Detroit Mercy vs. Cleveland State.
Watch below to see Drew's Picks:
The biggest game of the day features No. 5 Villanova traveling to No. 19 Creighton. Last week, Nova dropped a bad one to St. John’s, but other than that they’ve been one of the most consistent teams in the country on their way to a 13-2 record.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has led the way for head coach Jay Wright’s Wildcats. The sophomore is averaging 16.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Senior guard and Philadelphia Catholic League legend Collin Gillespie is the leader for this Nova team and makes them go on offense. He hasn’t been as efficient as he’d like to be, but senior guards are massive in big college basketball games.
As for Creighton, the Blue Jays are led by the backcourt of Denzel Mahoney and Marcus Zegarowski. Mahoney, a senior, is the team’s leading scorer, putting up 14.5 points per game and shooting just over 40% from the field. Junior guard Zegarowski averages just a tenth of a point less at 14.4 per contest.
This one comes down to whether or not the Creighton backcourt can hang with Nova and if the frontcourt can do enough to slow down Robinson-Earl.
Drew’s late-night pick comes our way from the Horizon league with Detroit Mercy and Cleveland State going head to head. Cleveland State is tied atop the conference with a 14-3 record, while Detroit Mercy has some ground to make up four games back.
Guard Antoine Davis has been a force offensively, leading the way by averaging 22.8 points per game for Detroit Mercy. These two teams played just last night, and Davis scored 35 points in an 89-83 win.
