We get great matchup in the round of 64 between the Badgers and the Tarheels. The Tarheels, who have won 3 of their last 4 games and have averaged almost 85 ppg in that span, opened as 2 point favorites over Wisconsin. However, do not disregard the Badgers. Yes, COVID has shook everyone’s world up but one thing remains the same, experience. The Wisconsin Badgers, who starts 4 seniors, two being redshirt seniors, have the edge. UNC is one of the best rebounding teams in the nation if not the best, but they cannot put the ball in the net. 313th in NCAA in 3 point field goals made, 273rd in 3P%, and 288th in FT percentage, the Tarheels just flat out do not impress you on the offensive end. Wisconsin is the best in the nation at protecting the ball averaging only 9 turnovers a game while UNC is 282nd in the nation in that category. But enough talking about what the Tarheels can’t do.
The Badgers slow the game down to their pace. Their experience allows them to run Greg Gard’s offense which mixes up the 2 bigs down low, Reuvers and Potter Besides that, Senior point guard Brad Davison and redshirt senior D’Mitrik Trice will toy with the backcourt of North Carolina. North Carolina was on the bubble last year and I don’t see much improvement this year. I would hit Wisconsin up to a pick’em.
