ACU scored a huge upset victory over trendy national champion pick Texas in round 1. Yes ACU is a fun Cinderella team, but they only managed to score 53 points in their win over Texas. UCLA has been hot scoring 86 and 73 points in their two tournament games. The main problems Texas had in their loss to ACU was turnovers and 3 point shooting. UCLA is way better than Texas in those categories. UCLA takes care of the ball ranking 40th in Offense Turnover %. Texas turned the ball over 23 times against ACU, the Bruins shouldn’t have those kind of issues. Texas also missed a bunch of open 3s going 7-20 from behind the arc. UCLA should be able to take advantage of these opportunities. The Bruins rank 29th in 3 point shooting %. UCLA should also have an advantage on the boards. The Bruins rank 82nd in Offensive Rebounding % and 56th in Defensive Rebounding %. The Wildcats rank 74th and 162nd in these categories. UCLA also holds an advantage at the charity stripe. The Bruins rank 148th in Free Throw % while ACU ranks 231st.

Look I understand what ACU did in the first round was special, but their clock is about to strike midnight. The Wildcats cannot keep up offensively with UCLA in this contest. ACU’s only chance to win is to replicate exactly what it did against Texas. However, Mick Cronin will have the Bruins prepared to take care of the ball and get his shooters open.
