George Washington vs. Maryland prediction and pick for Thursday's college basketball matchup. Jason Radowitz gives his pick for this showdown

George Washington vs. Maryland Prediction: Terrapins Massive Favorites Against GW

The Maryland Terrapins will welcome George Washington to the XFINITY Center for their second home game of the season.

Maryland beat up Quinnipiac in the first game of the season, 83-69, with five players in double figures. The Terrapins added six players in the transfer portal after losing seven key players from last year’s team. So far it’s all worked out, especially with former Rhode Island guard, Fatts Russell.

Meanwhile, George Washington won their first game of the season against St. Francis (PA), 75-72, and are also 1-0 to start the season. However, the Colonials suffered a huge blow before the season with Ira Lee suffering a ruptured patella tendon. He was a transfer from Arizona who would’ve made a big impact on this team. Still, with a bunch of other transfers, there’s potential with George Washington this year.

Here are our picks and predictions for the George Washington vs Maryland game on Thursday, November 11.

George Washington vs. Maryland Prediction

There’s no denying the depth at Maryland. With transfers from Rhode Island, Georgetown, Utah, Old Dominion, Arizona State and Elon, the Terrapins are loaded with talent including returners like Eric Ayala, Donta Scott and Hakim Hart.

Maryland dropped 83 against Quinnipiac at home on Tuesday, but ultimately ended up losing the second half, 44-42. Thankfully for Maryland, they did their damage in the first half and just had to hold it down in the second half, which they did.

The Terrapins shot just under 50 percent from the field and knocked down 6-of-17 from deep. The big reason they won was rebounding, out-rebounding the mid-major team by 16.

The starting lineup for Maryland is all upperclassmen including the three key returners along with former Rhode Island standout, Fatts Russell and Qudus Wahab from Georgetown. Both of those two seem like fantastic fits moving forward.

On the other hand, George Washington has some momentum. They won their first game of the year and had three players score at least 17 points or more. Without Ira Lee, it’s going to hurt a bit, however, the starting lineup is still solid behind James Bishop who scored 19.1 points per game last season for the Colonials.

He’ll team up with Ricky Lindo, who also sayed at George Washington along with Brendan Adams and Joseph Bamisile, who are two other solid transfers for this team. Bamisile scored 20 points while Adams scored 22 points in the win last week.

Having those two lead this team is special. The only thing I will say is that George Washington really lacks depth. Freshman Brayon Freeman could step up and fill that void eventually but it’s going to be hard if he’s not comfortable taking more shots in a game.

George Washington needs to just play eight players in this game against Maryland. If they stay out of foul trouble and keep the rotation tight, they’ll stick around in this game.
