College Basketball Picks: 3 Best Bets for Thursday's Games
I am back with my best bets today for College Basketball! We have been riding a hot streak and will look to continue that with this incredible slate!
Thursday's College Basketball Picks
Hartford vs. Boston University Prediction
The first play I am looking at today will feature the Boston University Terriers and the Hartford Hawks. Boston comes into this game playing to the tune of a 1-2 record while the Hawks are sporting a winless 0-3 record so far. The Hawks come into this game as a 3.5 point home underdog, which is far too many. This is a Hawks team led by Coach John Gallagher, who has been very competitive over the last few seasons. The Hawks return guards Austin Williams and Moses Flowers, who will have to do the heavy lifting in tonight’s game if the Hawks want to be victorious.
This is a game I see being back and forth early on and coming down to the last few possessions late in the game. I feel comfortable taking the team with the points; furthermore, getting a home dog with three and a half points is far too many. This Hartford team has lost a couple of close calls, and I believe they are being undervalued in this spot tonight, facing a below-average Boston University team. I will gladly take the home dog in this spot.
Hartford vs. Boston University Pick
- Pick: Hartford +3.5 (-110)
DePaul vs. Rutgers Prediction
The second pick I will be looking at will be an affair between a pair of power conference schools. Reigning from the Big 10, the Rutgers Scarlett Knights, and from the Big East, the Depaul Blue Demons. This Rutgers team was one of the largest surprises a year ago as they made headlines most of the season of being one of the best teams in the loaded Big 10 conference. The Scarlet Knights made the March Madness tournament for the first time in decades. However, the offseason for Rutgers was not a good one as they saw star guard Jacob Young transfer to the University of Oregon while star big man transferred to UCLA. Rutgers does return a pair of stars from a season ago in the guard Geo Baker and forward Ron Harper Jr.
Depaul, on the other side of things, has jumped out to an excellent 2-0 start to their young season, beating up on some weaker teams. This will be both teams’ toughest test of the season so far tonight. Depaul will look to their star Javon Freeman-Liberty to lead them tonight. I am riding the home dog once again in Depaul tonight. This is a new-look team playing at home with a new head coach. I believe this is a tough team that will battle all night. This Rutgers team has not impressed me yet this season, so I will be riding the home dog here tonight.
DePaul vs. Rutgers Pick
- Pick: Depaul +3 (-110)

Xavier vs. Ohio State Prediction
The final pick I will go with will be my only public pick of the day, but I am riding with the public in this spot. The Ohio State Buckeyes will travel and play and the Xavier Musketeers tonight. This should be a great game between a pair of power conference schools and competitive start to finish. However, I feel there is a significant difference in talent, especially on the inside. The big men for Ohio State in Ej Lidell and Zed Key are two of the best in college basketball, which will be a matchup nightmare for Xavier tonight. I have this line closer to four or five points, and I believe the books are overreacting a bit to the early-season play of Ohio State. Ohio State has been playing teams with much lower skill sets than Xavier, and I think they will be well prepared and energized for this game tonight.
Xavier vs. Ohio State Pick
- Pick: Ohio State -2.5 (-110)
