College basketball picks and predictions for Tuesday night from Matt McCuen. DeadPresPicks has identified his three favorite CBB picks for tonight

College Basketball Picks: Three Best Bets For Tuesday

Syracuse vs. Villanova Prediction

Syracuse vs. Villanova odds

We have a loaded college basketball slate today, and I am prepared to sweep another one with you all. I will start with one of my best plays as the Villanova Wildcats battle the Syracuse Orange.

The Orange come into this game tonight as a nine-point underdog, led by star guard and the coach's son Buddy Boheim. Buddy has teamed up with his brother Jimmy Boheim this season, and the pair presents one of the best shooting combos in the nation. Syracuse entered the season with reasonably low expectations, but they have shown they are a tournament-bound team once again.

The Villanova Wildcats entered the season as a top-10 team once again led by Jay Wright. This is a sound Wildcats bunch who brought back talent and experience in Collin Gillespie and Justin Moore. The play I am going with tonight will be to back the Syracuse Orange.

This is essentially a home game for the Orange, and I believe the level they can score at will keep this basketball game close. The Orange zone will do what it does and force enough turnovers to give Syracuse a chance to compete in this game. I do believe there is a good chance you will see the Orange win this game if they limit turnovers on their end and play strong defense at the rim, led by center Jesse Edwards. I love taking the dog in this game with nine points. Give me the Orange.

Texas Tech vs. Tennessee Prediction

Texas Tech vs. Tennessee odds

The next play I am looking at is a power conference affair as the Texas Tech Red Raiders take a trip to the Garden to face the Tennessee Volunteers, led by head coach Rick Barnes.

The Red Raiders saw a lot of offseason turnover, losing their two best players from a season ago in Kyler Edwards and Mac McClung, and also losing their head coach Chris Beard to rival Texas. Tennesse also saw turnover on their roster but does return star John Fulkerson and some experience in the guard position with sharpshooter Santiago Vescovi. The Volunteers have also had great guard play from Kennedy Chandler and Victor Bailey Jr.

This game will also be at Madison Square Garden, so there will be no significant home-court advantage, but I do see a sizeable difference in the guard play. This Tech team still identifies as a gritty defensive team, but their lack of scoring is a genuine concern, and this is a hardnosed Tennessee defense. I believe the guard play will show up as this game goes on, and the scoring of Tennesse will be too much to handle for this offensively-challenged Red Raider bunch. I will take the short line on the Volunteers here.

Belmont vs. St. Louis Prediction

Belmont vs. St. Louis odds

The final play l turn to is a matchup between the Belmont Bruins and the St Louis Billikens. St Louis has gotten off to a fairly hot start to their season despite a couple of games that they would like back, including a blowout loss to the Memphis Tigers

Belmont has had a solid start to their season, playing to the tune of a 7-3 record overall, and will look to upset St Louis tonight on the road. The play I am taking here is St Louis at -2. This is a solid bunch for St. Louis, who is coming off a tough home loss to UAB, a team they were slated to beat. They will look to avoid losing back-to-back home games tonight, and I believe they will be able to hold off this good Belmont team. I expect the usual suspects to take care of business tonight for St. Louis, led by guard Gibson Jimerson. This will be a competitive game, but I trust the home team on the short line.
