UCLA vs Marquette**: Can the Bruins Earn Another Road Win?**

The UCLA Bruins will play a rare road game against the Marquette Golden Eagles at 2:30pm ET on FOX.

The Bruins have just one loss on the season with the lone loss coming against the Gonzaga Bulldogs earlier this year. However, the Bruins already have a top 10 win against Villanova and have looked extremely good recently with two wins over UNLV and Colorado. Of course, UCLA’s most recent game against Washington was canceled due to Washington having to be in COVID protocol. That game was a forfeit instead of postponed.

Meanwhile, Marquette has been shockingly good to start the season. With an 8-2 record, the Big East has an impressive team under new head coach Shaka Smart.

Here are our picks and predictions for the UCLA vs Marquette game for Saturday, December 11 at 2:30pm ET.

UCLA vs Marquette Prediction

The UCLA Bruins haven’t played an actual game since December 1. It’s hard to know how rusty this team could be to start this game.

UCLA has put together an incredible start to the season with an extremely good offense. The Bruins have an effective field goal percentage of 52.8 percent while only turning the ball over 14 percent of the time.

The Bruins have also dominated on the glass, earning 35.1 percent offensive rebounds. That’s why UCLA is so dominant. Not only do the Bruins dominate the glass, but UCLA is also able to shoot 39.2 percent from deep while also shooting 50 percent from inside.

Defensively, it’s more of the same. UCLA dominates the glass, holding opponents to just 20.4 percent offensive rebounds. And that’s without forward Cody Riley who was an integral part of UCLA’s success last season in March Madness.

Marquette, on the other hand, has done everything above average on the defensive end. The Golden Eagles are holding opponents to just a 47.4 percent effective field goal percentage while also limiting opponents to 31.6 percent from long range and 47.5 percent from inside.

The Golden Eagles really don’t send teams to the line that often and have done well, keeping teams off the glass. For UCLA, Marquette will be a little challenging to figure out on the offensive end.

The Golden Eagles, however, are not the same on the offensive glass, and will likely be held to plenty of one-and-done possessions. Marquette is earning just 23.7 percent offensive rebounds and has shot just 32.4 percent from long range on the year.

The Golden Eagles still dominate inside and aren’t afraid of shooting the long-range jumper. If there’s a team that Marquette can have success against from three, it could be UCLA, as UCLA has allowed teams to shoot 34.1 percent from deep.

At home, I’d imagine the Golden Eagles find their way to the line more frequently while also hitting plenty of three-point shots. Marquette doesn’t shy away from threes and will have way more success shooting the three than trying to bang inside with guys like Myles Johnson.

Give me the home dog in this one.
