Gonzaga vs. Northern Arizona Prediction: Just Take The Points
The Gonzaga Bulldogs started off the non-conference schedule with a bunch of exciting games against Texas, UCLA, Duke, Alabama, and Texas Tech. Now, things are going to settle down a bit as the Bulldogs get ready to take on Northern Arizona, at home.
Northern Arizona is currently 4-7 and on a two-game losing streak. However, both losses were by 10 or fewer points. I must point out, however, that Northern Arizona already lost to Arizona earlier this year, 81-52. That sounds like the right score for tonight’s game with the spread currently sitting at -35 for Gonzaga.
To start the game, against the spread, the Lumberjacks will be up 35-0. Can they cover? Here are our picks and predictions for the non-conference game between Northern Arizona and the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Northern Arizona vs Gonzaga Bulldogs Prediction
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are fourth in the nation in the AP Poll and first in the nation in KenPom rankings. Now they’ll take on a Northern Arizona team that is currently in the bottom 50 of college basketball in Northern Arizona.
The Lumberjacks don’t do much well on either end of the ball. On offense, Northern Arizona is shooting a 46.9 percent effective field goal percentage while turning the ball over 22.3 percent of the time. The Lumberjacks hit 34 percent of threes, which isn’t bad but struggle to score inside, shooting 44.4 percent inside the arc.
The Lumberjacks will shoot their fair share of threes but ultimately, should struggle to find much success inside against Gonzaga.
The Bulldogs have held opponents to a 43.6 percent effective field goal percentage while holding teams to a 22.1 percent offensive rebound rate. Teams are shooting 30.2 percent from long range and 42.7 percent inside against Gonzaga.
The Lumberjacks are capable of getting to the line and are currently in the top 50 when it comes to free throws attempted to field goals attempted. Still, it’ll be a bit more difficult to outmuscle Gonzaga.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs, on the offensive end are one of the best in the nation. The Bulldogs have an effective field goal percentage of 58.6 percent while bringing down 34.9 percent offensive rebounds. Inside the arc, Gonzaga is shooting a nation-leading 63.3 percent. From long-range, the Bulldogs are still solid, shooting 34 percent.
Northern Arizona isn’t a threat to force turnovers, forcing just 14.5 percent on the season defensively. The Lumberjacks are also fouling at an abnormal rate, but that might be better for the Lumberjacks as Gonzaga is shooting below 70 percent from the foul line on the season.
By now, if you’ve been reading my work, you know I will rarely take a team that’s favorited by 35 points. You can’t expect any division I team to win by 36 points and cover a spread.
Gonzaga might win by 30, but that would be enough to help Northern Arizona cover this ridiculous spread.
