Tennessee vs. Arizona Prediction

Let's not forget Tennessee had a massive game against Memphis canceled due to Covid that the Vols were so desperate to play a game that they scrimmaged against each other. On the flip side, we find out if Arizona's for real or not tonight. They have beaten a couple of decent teams in Michigan and Illinois, but honestly, we don't feel either one of those teams is as good as Tennessee.

When you look at it from the other side, you can see that Tennessee has lost to Texas Tech and Villanova. These two teams were ranked, but if you look at the game against Texas Tech, it went into overtime, and Tennessee had the worst shooting performance of the season. In that game, they started ice cold, and then when you're down so much against a good team, it's hard to come back. You begin shooting three-pointers, and that's the end of that game if they don't go in. We have two good defensive teams going. Tennessee is the better defense, while Arizona's is the much better offense. Defense wins games, and the Vols force 25 percent turnovers with their relentless defense. We feel they will pressure Arizona's guards and affect that high-powered offense as they are holding opponents to 38% shooting while Arizona normally shoots 50%. Why Tennessee tonight, you are still wondering? Arizona is playing their last game before conference play and is going on a substantial four-game road trip for the next two weeks playing three ranked teams and a good Arizona State squad after that. This road trip will show us how good Arizona is, and we feel they are not as good as their record may say. Just like the pollsters who have teams with losses ranked ahead of them.

The Vols had had eight days off. As we mentioned, they scrimmaged themselves when the Memphis game was canceled, so they are hungry and fresh to take on a new opponent, and they are at home where they have a considerable advantage. Also, Arizona has been starting games very slow. That won't work tonight, so we hope they do that again because Tennessee won't let them come back on them. Tennessee is not the high-powered offense Arizona is, but they are fourth in assist/turnover ratio and sixth in assists because they spread the ball out. The name to remember is Kennedy Chandler. He has assisted on 35% of their points this year as he has been doing things freshmen don't usually do. Based on the long break, the home edge, the slow starts by Arizona, and the team defense the Vols play, they will win this game at home. The Vols win by at least five tonight.
