NCAAB expert, Jason Radowitz takes a look at Wisconsin vs. Purdue and tries to answer if Purdue deserves to be a big favorite.

Wisconsin vs Purdue Prediction: Is Purdue Truly a -12.5 Favorite?

The Purdue Boilermakers will welcome the Wisconsin Badgers to town for a top 25 ranked matchup in the Big Ten.

On the year, Wisconsin is 10-2 with losses only to Ohio State and Providence. The Badgers have wins against Houston, Saint Mary's and Indiana to name a few.

Meanwhile, Purdue is 12-1 on the year with a fluke loss to Rutgers, on the road. But does this mean Purdue should be a heavy favorite against Wisconsin?

Here are our picks and predictions for the Big Ten matchup between Wisconsin and Purdue.

Wisconsin vs Purdue Prediction

It's going to be hard for Wisconsin to get stops. Purdue is one of the best offenses in the nation with an effective field goal percentage of 60.2.

The Boilermakers are shooting 41.1 percent from long range while also hitting 59.1 percent inside the arc this season. Purdue is also getting to the foul line at a high rate while hitting 73.8 percent of shots. On top of that, the Boilermakers have grabbed nearly 40 percent of offensive rebounds this season.

Wisconsin isn't a terrible defense. As a matter of fact, Wisconsin is an above-average defense in nearly every category. The Badgers have held opponents to a 47.8 percent effective field goal percentage while limiting teams to 33.2 percent from downtown and 46.7 percent from inside the arc.

If Wisconsin is able to limit Purdue just a tiny bit, the Badgers have a chance to at least cover the spread in this game.

Wisconsin isn't going to dominate offensively. However, the Badgers have been able to limit turnovers to just 12.4 percent on the season. This means that Wisconsin will at least be able to get shots up and have a solid amount of attempts in this game.

Despite Wisconsin shooting 30.4 percent from long range and 46.5 percent from inside the arc, the Badgers have found other ways to win, including getting to the line at a high rate. From the foul line, the Badgers have also hit 76.8 percent of shots.

I like Purdue to win this game, at home, but believe Wisconsin can absolutely stick around in this one. Wisconsin is a top 25 team right now and are getting 12.5 points against Purdue.
