Villanova vs. Creighton Prediction

Have you ever been in the wrong place at the wrong time? Well, tonight, the wrong place is a little city outside of Philadelphia. Villanova will come to play tonight and put on a beatdown of some Blue Jays. Villanova is now #19 in the country and has put together a couple of nice wins over Xavier by double digits and at Seton Hall. Villanova is always a dangerous team, but tonight they are extra dangerous, and this is a place where Villanova has never lost to Creighton.

Villanova doesn't do anything extraordinary, but they do many good things well. Led by Colin Gillespie, Justin Moore, Jermaine Samuels, and the best shooter on the team Brandon Slater who all scored in double digits, when this team gets hot good things happen, especially at home. Villanova has played four official home games. All four have been double-digit blowouts, with the closest one being by 13 points.

Creighton is the best team in the conference, currently led by a couple of big men in Ryan Hawkins and Ryan Kalkbrenner. They also have four guys who score in double-digits. They are coming off a great win in double OT over Marquette, who just pummeled Providence yesterday, so this was a legit win for them. But, Villanova being more of an outside shooting team, the big men won't affect them as much. We also love good FT shooting teams because you miss those 1 and 1's, you give away points, and Villanova is 22nd in the country at over 77% while Creighton is 226th at 69%. That is a huge discrepancy, and we feel that will come into play today.

The real reason why we love Vilanova, you may be wondering. Let's go back to last year in December of 2021, as Creighton blew out Villanova 79-59 at home. What happened in that game was that Villanova couldn't hit a three as they shot 4-23, couldn't hit a two either as they were 21-63, an awful 33%, and all of their top scorers couldn't hit the ocean. On the other hand, Creighton thought they were shooting into the ocean as they hit 9 of their 23 3's and shot a sizzling 54% on 31-57 shooting. They even hit their free throws (80%) and got all the rebounds. We feel Jay Wright doesn't just wear expensive suits. He actually gets paid to win games, and you come to Villanova after you beat him up pretty good last month. So you can expect he will remember that game like it was yesterday. Unless it's in the tournament, Villanova won't have a shot at revenge against Purdue, UCLA, or Baylor, but they do get a shot at Creighton tonight. Also, let's not forget Creighton was right after Baylor when they had a season-low 36 points in a flat out disgusting performance and playing back to back road games clearly they didn't have a chance to get back and focus on the offense, which they have scored over 70 in both games since that game getting them back on track.

Villanova may not be the team they usually are, but they are still a great team, and when they play at home, they are great, as they have shown so far. In a huge role reversal this time, Creighton is playing back-to-back road games and off a grueling double OT game, as we mentioned earlier. Also, in a weird scheduling quirk, that was their only game since they beat Villanova. So Villanova is looking forward to this game as we started this article saying you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, Creighton. That role reversal happens tonight as Villanova wins by double-digits, it may not be by 20, but it will be by more than 10. So lay it tonight and watch the Wildcats get that revenge in blowout fashion.
