College Basketball Picks: Tuesday's Two Best Bets

It is time for another couple of college basketball games on this Tuesday slate. We have a pretty crowded slate for today, and I was able to diagnose a couple of games I love.

Alabama vs. Auburn Prediction

Alabama vs. Auburn odds

The first game I want to get into is an SEC showdown between the fourth-ranked Auburn Tigers and the twenty-fourth ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. This is a rivalry that dates back a long time, and there is a lot of bad blood between these teams. This is a big showdown in football, as we know, but these teams are both basketball schools this year.

The Tigers, led by star freshmen Jabari Smith, have been one of the most impressive teams this season. Their length and size make them a matchup nightmare for many teams. Auburn is led by veteran head coach Bruce Pearl, who believes this is one of the most talented teams he has ever had.

Nate Oates has a pretty talented team himself. The Tide enter this game with a record of 11-4, but their losses have been to some good teams, and their wins have been some great wins.

The Tide are coming off a road loss to Missouri that shuffled them from the 18th ranked team in the nation down to the 24th. The play I am turning to tonight is to back the Crimson Tide on the moneyline.

I think this will be one of the best games of the young season as we will see NBA talent all over the court and an electric atmosphere in Alabama. I believe the line is telling us the tale as Auburn has been the much better team to this point in the season, but the fact that this is an Alabama team hungry off a loss and the fact they are home makes this a no brainer for me. I expect them to shoot the three-ball well and step it up on the defensive end tonight. I will take the Tide in this spot.

Alabama vs. Auburn Pick

Penn State vs. Rutgers Prediction

Penn State vs. Rutgers odds

The second play I am turning to tonight as I look for a sweep concerns a pair of Big Ten teams as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights battle the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Rutgers enters this game tonight playing to a record of 9-5 on the season, while Penn State enters this one with a 7-6 record overall.

Rutgers has been an outstanding team at home this season, but they have struggled a bit on the road, and Penn State will look to continue that narrative tonight. The Nittany Lions are led by forward Seth Lundy, who has been great this season, scoring 14.5 points per game.

The Scarlett Knights have been led by forward Ron Harper Jr., who has been stunting like his daddy to this point in the season, scoring a team-high 16.3 points per game. I love the Nittany Lions in this game tonight for a few reasons. The first is they are a much better team at home, and Rutgers is a team who has struggled the last couple of years on the road.

Penn State also matches up very well with this Rutgers team as Penn State is very good defensively, allowing just 66.2 points per game. I think the Nittany Lions can find an advantage in the paint tonight with big man John Harrar, a rebounding machine, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game. He will also be able to create more chances on the offensive end with offensive rebounds. This is a great spot for the home team tonight, so I will ride Penn State on the spread.
