Iowa State vs. Texas Tech Prediction
Again, both of these teams are tremendous defensively. Texas Tech is ranked third in the nation via KenPom while Texas Tech is ranked fourth in the nation on the defensive end. Texas Tech has held opponents to a 45.6 percent effective field goal percentage while forcing 24.3 percent turnovers on the season. The Red Raiders are also holding opponents to 31.5 percent from long range and 43.9 percent from inside the arc on the year. The Red Raiders are very solid on the glass, but it will be a bit difficult going up against Iowa State, as the Cyclones average 31.4 percent offensive rebounds. The Red Raiders are also fouling at a high rate, but that's going to come with the territory of being an aggressive defense. Iowa State is turning the ball over 20.5 percent of the time but the Cyclones still shoot a 52 percent effective field goal percentage. Iowa State is hitting 34.9 percent from three and 51.8 percent from inside the arc. Both are above-average numbers but going up against Texas Tech's defense, those numbers will likely trend down. Iowa State is also just as good defensively. The Cyclones have held opponents to a 45.2 percent effective field goal percentage while turning the ball over 26.2 percent of the time. Opponents are shooting 27.1 percent from long range against Iowa State and 48 percent from inside the arc. Just like Texas Tech, the Cyclones will foul at a high rate due to having an aggressive defense. All in all, both teams are very similar. We saw that in the first game between these two teams. Iowa State is getting eight points as an underdog, on the road. That's just too many points for a team that already beat Texas Tech earlier this season. Texas Tech can basically beat any team in the nation. They've already knocked off Baylor and Kansas, but the offense should lag a bit against Iowa State. In a low-scoring game, I'll take all the points I can get with Iowa State.
