Niagara vs. Saint Peters Prediction: Don't Expect Much Offense

We go to the MAAC conference tonight, where a battle of 500 teams takes place in Niagara Falls, where the weather is as cold as the shooting will be tonight at a mere 14 degrees. We have a numbers system total, and we trust our numbers and systems, so let's ride this bad boy, and here is why.

Niagara vs. Saint Peters Over/Under Movement

Niagara vs. Saint Peters Prediction

Niagara has two players who score over 10 points a game in Marcus Hammond and Jordan Citron. However, this team is not known for their scoring as they are 260th in offense, averaging over 68 points a game. Even worse, they are 318th at rebounding with just over 29 a game, meaning this team shoots, misses, and then has to play defense a lot. This is why they are so much better defensively, ranking 88th in the country, giving up 65 a game, and holding opponents to 41 percent field goal percentage. They have been outrebounded their last five games and missed at least half of their shots in all of them as well, where they average a little over 50 shots a game. They don't play run and gun; they play to slow down games which is why they only have two guys scoring over double digits, and today they play a team exactly like them on both offense and defense.

St. Peters is even worse, they have one guy scoring double digits on the team, and he averages 10.7 a game. Their last four games have averaged 121 a game combined points. This team is 307th offensively, averaging just over 65 points a game. They are 327th in field goal percentage and 292nd in 3-point shooting, and you ask about free throws, not free on this team, as they are ranked 310th at that (hideous offense). Like Niagara, they play defense because they clearly can't play offense. St Peters is 63rd defensively, giving up slightly less than 64 a game, 55th giving up 40% shooting, and 67th giving up just over 30% shooting from the 3-point line (big discrepancy from the offense to the defense).

THESE teams can't score, but they can defend and will probably take up the whole shot clock more often than not. Who will win doesn't matter. We know the defense will rule tonight as this should be the lowest-scoring game of the evening.

Still not a believer; how about some numbers for you? 18-8 combined unders on the year, St Peters 11-2 under the last 13 road games, and 22 out of 28 unders total. Niagara 6-1 to the under after a win against the spread. They just beat Manhattan, and the last four games between these guys have gone under, and eight out of those ten with scores of 102, 124, 117, and 111 is pretty much what we expect tonight.
