ANALYSIS

Syracuse vs. Wake Forest Prediction: Taking Advantage of a Disrespectful Line

Tonight we go to ACC Country, and we will see if the biggest travesty in the NCAA, the unranked Wake Forest boys, can go into Syracuse and beat the Orange for a second time this year. WF is 17-4 on the year and not ranked makes you wonder how blowing out North Carolina by 22, winning at Virginia by 8, beating Florida St by 22, winning at Virginia Tech, and beating this same Orange team doesn't get you ranked these days.

Syracuse vs. Wake Forest Line Movement

Syracuse vs. Wake Forest Prediction

Wake Forest doesn't have Tim Duncan, but Alondes Williams is a triple-double waiting to happen every game. This guy averages over 20 points a game, over five assists, and almost seven rebounds, and he is shooting 55% from the field. The Boeheim boys won't stop this guy as he should be on every all ACC team this year.

This year, Wake Forest can score with anyone as they are 24th, averaging almost 80 points a game and 18th in field goal percentage at nearly 49% a game. Their defense isn't too shabby either, as they give up under 40% field goal shooting and under 31% from the 3 point line. Wake is on a tiny four-game winning streak, and they have covered all 4 of these games, with the last three by double digits in absolute blowouts. They have shot over 54% over the previous three games and held their opponents to 25-33-38% over the last three games. That's going to win a lot of games.

As we mentioned earlier, these teams played three weeks ago in an overtime thriller where Wake won 77-74. Wake did their job holding the Orange to 34% shooting and 28% from the 3 point line. Where Wake Forest made this game close is they let Cole Swider dominate the glass, and extra baskets and the turnovers kept the Orange in the game. WF should have won easily, but since that game, WF has been impressive, and the Orange have been far from it, going 2-3, including being destroyed by Duke.

We love Coach Boeheim like everyone else, and he has made us a lot of money over the years, but his sons not so much. Three Boeheim's, maybe a little too many. It is excellent that his sons lead the team in scoring, but that is also the downfall as Buddy is taking way too many shots, and Jimmy is shooting free throws like Shaq (56%). This team has no bench either after the starting five. No one plays more than 12 minutes or scores more than 2 points a game. This team isn't built for the tournament and will be lucky to get into the NIT. Syracuse is a name and has a great home court, but this lucky to make the NIT Team isn't good enough to beat an underrated Wake Forest team who has beaten everyone recently and gotten no respect with spreads of -1 against NC (won by 22), -2 against GT (won by 16) and they were +3.5 against Virginia and beat them eight on the road. This isn't the Orange year, and based on the first matchup, if Wake Forest does not allow Syracuse to put up 75 shots again, they should win easily. Wake Forest will also have Daivien Williamson for this game as he was not available the first game, and his 13 points and defense on the Boeheim boys will be a big help.

We have a name brand versus a non-respected brand. Wake has covered the last 4, covering the last four as a dog, has scored over 76 in 7 of their last ten as opposed to Syracuse scoring 53 and 59 their previous two, and they are 4-17 their last 21 ATS at home against winning road teams. This team is a mess, and the Boeheim's can't shoot them out of it this time. Look for a well-rested WAKE to win in regulation this time. Wake +2, we won't need the points, but we will take them anyway.
