We watched the first meeting back in Eugene, where Oregon came out like gangbusters up 15-2, 22-8, 30-17. It was a blowout the whole first half. After that, it got sloppy fast, and when they came out in the second half, they were turning it over, playing even sloppier but were still in it, leading until an ice storm fell over with 5:44 left in the game they hit some free throws to be down by two. Who knew those free throws would be it for a while as they didn't score again until 1:46 was left on the clock. They were in it the whole game, but the turnovers, missed threes, and no teamwork as it turned into an individual game beat them. When you look at the game, they had more shots, but they got outrebounded, they missed a lot more shots, more threes, and the one man they had to stop Jabari Walker they didn't. Tonight their second-best player (Colorado) Tristan da Silva is probably out as he hasn't played since the first meeting, and if he does, Oregon should truly have an edge tonight.
We can throw out trends numbers because they were conflicting and didn't work in the first meeting. Still, these teams have been alternating wins and losses ATS, and tonight is Oregon's turn. And we also think that a team that held its opponents to 56 before and after the Colorado game will not give up 82 or 50% shooting again tonight.
In the last meeting, Keyshawn Barthelemy (19 points) also had the best game of his career as he drove the lane a lot, and we feel Oregon has made adjustments, and this man won't do it again. So stop Walker and win the game. It's that simple here. Another advantage tonight will be Tad Boyle. The coach of the Buffaloes is in COVID protocol, so Mike Rohn will have his first crack, and I think we have the coaching edge there tonight.
