Princeton vs. Cornell Prediction

Princeton has a 15-4 record on the season, but to be fair, the numbers simply don't add up all that much. The Tigers haven't played great defense at all this year and have used offense to counteract the terrible defense. The Tigers are allowing teams to shoot a 53.1 percent effective field goal percentage while only forcing 16.4 percent turnovers. Teams are literally shooting 37.6 percent against the Tigers and yet the Tigers only have four losses this season. Princeton has also allowed teams to shoot 51.5 percent from inside the arc, which also isn't very good. However, the Tigers have limited offensive rebounds and fouls and that has been one of the major keys for their success this season. Cornell, however, shoots a 53.4 percent effective field goal percentage and dominates inside, hitting 55.1 percent of shots. The Big Red also hit 34.3 percent from deep and continue to shoot a high amount of threes per game. Knowing Princeton allows so many threes to fall, that's going to be concerning for Princeton. On the other hand, Princeton's offense is very elite. The Tigers shoot 38 percent from deep and 55.6 percent from inside the arc. Turnovers remain low but offensive rebounds and foul shooting also remain low. Cornell is nothing special defensively but has held opponents to 32.9 percent from three. Princeton will shoot the three a little more regularly, so knowing Cornell can get stops from long range and limit offensive rebounds is crucial. Therefore, I have to side with the home team in tonight's game. Cornell can get stops against Princeton in this game and that will set them up for some really good offense.
