College Basketball Picks: Best Bet for Sunday's Games
Cincinnati vs Houston Prediction
Houston has been one of the more impressive teams in the country this year. They lost two of their best players to injury in Tramon Mark and Leading scorer, Marcus Sasser, and have still compiled a 19-2 record and are currently on an 11-game winning streak.
Their last loss came in early December by a single point in a back-and-forth game against Alabama. Since then, Houston has dominated conference play as they are currently 8-0 and more importantly, have dominated the first half of most of those games. They have gone 5-0 ATS in the first half of their last 5 conference games covering by an average margin of 10 ppg in those games.
So not only have they been covering, but they have been winning with some serious margin against the number. In this matchup, Houston will take on a Cincinnati team who has been playing well lately going 4-1 in their last 5 games, but I don't think Cincinnati has the firepower or the toughness inside to hang with Houston. Cincinnati has been a very solid defensive team this year as they are actually ranked first in the nation in defensive effective field goal percentage, but they have struggled to rebound the basketball.
They are only ranked 230th in defensive rebounding percentage and Houston is a team who hits the offensive glass for extra possessions like none other. Houston is ranked second in offensive rebounding percentage and 10th in overall adjusted offensive efficiency and think they will be able to bully Cincinnati on the glass here. Kyler Edwards has really stepped up in Marcus Sasser's absence and has become Houston's true number 1 scoring threat, so I expect a big game from him tonight. With that being said, I am backing the Houston Cougars in tonight's AAC matchup, but I am rolling with Houston 1H -3 115 as they have been much better in the first half of games this season. I see Houston coming out fast and setting a tone for this game within the opening 20 minutes.
