College Basketball Best Bets: The Opportunity of a Lifetime to Back Stony Brook
One of the best things we can do as bettors is lay cash on schools we've never heard of. Basketball gives us the perfect opportunity to do that each and every weekend which is beautiful. Today, we have what I like to call, the opportunity of a lifetime. We get to throw down some cash on kids from a school most of us will have to look up. It's almost like soccer in a way. Lucky for us, I've vetted each and every one of these kids and they can be trusted. They hit threes and free throws and their opponent doesn't play defense. This could be beautiful. I went ahead and did it for the full game too just so we could enjoy it a little longer as well. Amazing work here by me.
Stony Brook Team Total Over 71.5 @ -122 (Bet $122 to win $100)

So we're paying a little juice here. I know. It stinks but we're going to win so that has to count for something. If you want, you could do 72.5 at DraftKings for -110 but I'm just going to pay the money. This is college basketball people. Wild stuff happens all the time. Plus -110 isn't really that much different than -122.
Here's the thing about Stony Brook, they are on a tear right now. Over their last four games, they've only won two but they haven't scored less than 84 points in any of them. That includes a game against the same team they're playing today in which they hung 88. These kids are on fire.
On the season, Stony Brook is sporting a 51% effective field goal percentage so they know how to score the basketball. But, over the last three games, that number has swelled to 58.4% (26th in the country) which is just dumb for a team that only has to score 72 points today.
The team they are playing today, Hartford, is just as hot at the moment (kind of). Over their last three games, their effective field goal percentage is 56.8%. What I like best is they seem to play at the pace of their opponent so we could get into a three-ball trading contest.
At the end of the day, the idea that we get to back a team to only have to score 72 points in an "iron sharpens iron" situation like this is crazy. This game could easily end up with both teams in the 80s. That's not crazy. The last one did.
