These teams are poised to make a push for March Madness, and this game today will help settle some of the questions surrounding both sides.
Memphis is on a hot streak at the moment, not losing a game in the month of February and stealing a road win over Houston. They have won their last two road games, facing two good teams in Cincinnati and Houston. Memphis entered the season ranked and looking to silence critics who said they would not be able to make a March Madness push.
They are again a reasonably young team landing two top recruits in the nation in Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren. Duren has been their leading scorer and rebounder this season. SMU entered the season knowing they would have a chance to compete for winning the conference due to some of the experience they have across the board. Veteran guard Kendric Davis has been fantastic. Davis is one of the best players in the conference this year, scoring north of nineteen points per game. Davis will see himself once again being first-team all-conference this year.

I love the way Memphis is playing, and I feel like they have turned the tide on their season. Coming into the year, we knew how talented they were, but it would take some time to mesh together as a team.
I still think they are an elite team when clicking due to the talent they offer. Their duo of talented freshmen in Bates and Duren makes them a matchup nightmare. I think their defense will also be able to turn it on and force turnovers, allowing them to play in transition. They are a very good defensive and fast-break team. The fact that they lost to SMU already at home makes me like this spot for them as well. I am riding the hot road team here in Memphis tonight, who I believe is a scary team to face come March!
