College Basketball Picks for Tuesday: Western Michigan Kicks In Tonight

We did it people. We made it through a Monday with no NFL. Was it easy? No. But what did make it a little easier was the fact that we still had action on the hardwood. I know college hoops is a little different than the NBA but at the end of the day, it's still about putting a ball in a basket. How hard could it be? I know one thing, I had a blast watching Valparaiso go over 31.5 in the first half last night. Lucky for us, there are a ton of games to choose from again tonight. All we have to do is find one (preferably on television) and fire away. This should be easy.

Western Michigan Team Total Over 30.5 * First Half (-120) (Bet $120 to win $100)

I'll apologize. I'm sorry I'm not sorry that this is a DraftKings special. Every book on the planet should post first half team totals for college hoops. But they don't. If I was in charge I would sign that into law on the first day. That's how strong I feel about this. But since I'm not in charge, we can only play this at DraftKings because I don't see it anywhere else.

This is pretty much like the movie, The Karate Kid. We've got a team in Western Michigan (Daniel that has been bullied all school year by the stronger kids in the MAC (Cobra Kai). The Broncos sit dead last in the standings because of all the beatings they've taken this season. But the thing about Western Michigan is, they've been training and all that hard work is starting to show.

Over their last three games, they've posted first-half totals of 38, 26 and 47. Two of those games were at home and they won both of them. If you're concerned with the 26 point outing, keep in mind that was against Akron. They play about as slow as you can play. I seriously think that they think you have to use the whole shot clock on every possession. It's weird.

Tonight, Daniel (Western Michigan) welcomes basically Johnny Lawrence (Toledo) to their home gym. Toledo is tied for first place in the MAC and three of their last four wins have been by at least 15 points. They're pretty much trying to sweep the leg every time out. No mercy.

The thing about Toledo is they play fast. Real fast. Like 65th fastest in the nation according to KenPom. That leads to extra possessions which leads to points. They've given up at least 31 points in the first half of each of their last three games. One of those games they won by 28 points.

I don't know that Western Michigan (Daniel) is going to pull off a crane kick (illegal) tonight. We don't need them to though. The fact that their effective field goal percentage is 50.6% over their last three games tells me that they will know what to do with the extra possessions. I don't think 31 points is asking too much here.
