Lightning Locks goes to Texas Tech for college basketball today. Can they cover the big number at home?
ANALYSIS

Texas Tech vs Oklahoma Prediction: Can Texas Tech Cover the Big Number?

We go to Big 12 country today in Lubbock, Texas and you might be wondering at first what's up here but really we see a lot of value in this game. We have the fading going nowhere: Oklahoma Sooners who just lost one of their starting guards Elijah Harkless to fade the red hot, smoking, sizzling Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock.

Tech has moved all the way up to number nine in the country, just swept Texas and beat Baylor by double digits. You may not know this but Tech is one of the hottest teams in the country SU and ATS (9-1 last 10).

Texas Tech vs Oklahoma Prediction

What is wrong with Oklahoma you may be asking? Well, this team isn't very good on the road they are horrible only 2-7 on the year. Yet, this team beat Texas Tech at home two weeks ago as a small dog. How did this happen?

Tech had just beaten Texas a huge win they wanted badly and we were all over that (1 unit star winner for VIP) and West Virginia on the road so they probably took Oklahoma a little lightly and they came out very flat and looked awful in the second half as they got blown out by 20 in the half.

This was their worst loss in the Big 12 in over 3 years. It also didn't help when Tech shot 2-17 from 3-point land and Oklahoma shot 13-28 one of their best of the year. But, if you look further into the game it was really one man, Umoja Gibson who averages 12 a game, who had only scored 20 once all year went off for 30 hitting eight of 11 from the 3-point line.

Oklahoma is 225th from the 3-point line this year not even shooting 33% yet that day at home they saw the basket as big as the ocean. Tech is a top 10 defense this year, Oklahoma is 227th on offense at points per game and 323 at rebounds. Clearly two different ends of the spectrum. Oklahoma is playing for pretty much nothing this year while Tech is battling Baylor for the number two seed in the conference and in the brackets right now.

Texas Tech is number nine in the country and they have been up and down the rankings all year. This team has an easy schedule to end the season and should win these last four games and with Baylor playing Kansas later this week there is still an outside shot to move up.

Oklahoma lost one of their best players for the year in Harkless as we mentioned earlier and this team doesn't really have a leader as they all average a few points of each other. Tech also only plays six men usually but Bryson Williams and Terrence Shannon are two upperclassmen who have taken over the leadership roles.

Tech has everything in front of them but they sure won't forget how they came out flat and had their worst 3-point performance against Oklahoma from a team that usually shoots a tad better from the 3-point line.

Tech has to be salivating at the one thing these teams have in common after watching Oklahoma lose by 21 and score only 54 points against Iowa St. Oklahoma has had three of their last 10 games where they have scored in the 50 point range while Tech has held three of their last 10 opponents in the 50's because of their defense is one of the best in the country (giving up 61 points a game and 38% FG% per game).

With Tech's heavy guard-oriented offense they will miss him even more tonight. Blowout City tonight in Lubbock as the Red Raiders shoot down the  Sooners and win by at least 15 points. Lay the 10 and let's see if Tech can win another game holding their opponents in the 50's.
