Monday's Best Bets in College Basketball: We're Headed to the A-10

There's a smaller slate this evening in College Basketball but there are a few matchups that caught my eye. The first is an A-10 matchup between Fordham and UMass and the second is a Mountain West Conference showdown between San Diego St and Wyoming. Let's get to it.

Fordham vs UMass

This is a matchup of A-10 bottom feeders, but I think there's some value on one side in particular here. Over the last few games, Fordham has been playing without their two best players and leading scorers, but it hasn't seemed to matter much as they have still been playing exceptionally well at home. Over their last few home games, Fordham has beaten Rhode Island, George Mason, La Salle, and had close losses to VCU and Davidson where they covered the spread easily.

This Fordham team is very stingy on defense and think they can cause problems for this inconsistent UMass team. Fordham is a team who wants to play very slow, limit possessions, and play in the half court for both offense and defense. UMass is the complete opposite in the sense that they want to play fast and score as much as possible. I think that in a rivalry game in conference play, the team with the better defense tends to prevail and Fordham definitely has the better defense in this game.

UMass is surprisingly in the bottom 30 in the nation in most major defensive categories and I think Fordham will see a boost in their offensive production against this porous Umass defense. With that being said, I am rolling with Fordham ML tonight at -115 (Full Game ML) as one of my most confident college basketball picks of the night as I think they can get the job done at home.

Wyoming Vs San Diego State

Wyoming has been the public's darling all year as they have seemingly found a way to cover most spreads as a favorite or favorable underdog this season, but I think San Deigo St is in a good spot here tonight. San Diego St is the number bynver ranked team in the country in overall adjusted defensive efficiency. This team defends their tails off and they are also ranked sixth in defensive effective field goal percentage, seventh in defensive 2-point percentage, and 15th in defensive 3-point percentage.

They are in the top 50 in nearly every major defensive category and defense always travels. Wyoming has actually had some trouble in the first half of games this year before finishing strong in the 2H and I really like the value on San Diego St 1H ML here at nearly a Pk at -115.

This means that SDSU would basically be a -3/4 favorite on a neutral court or a -170 ML, but we are getting a discount on the price here simply because SDSU is on the road. SDSU was in a similar spot a few weeks ago on the road vs Fresno St and played a very solid game and think they will do the same early tonight. With that being said, I am rolling with San Diego St 1H ML at -113 for one of my most confident college basketball picks of the night.
