If you hadn't already noticed, the Southland Conference is one of my favorite conferences to bet on. The pace these teams play at is just insane and the physicality and a total number of fouls is something you just don't see in most college basketball games. And tonight, I am going back to one of my favorite angles, which is the OVER.
McNeese State and Northwestern State both play very fast. McNeese State is currently ranked 44th in the lowest time of possession and Northwestern State is ranked 63rd in that same category so it should be a fairly fast-paced game. Both teams are also in the bottom 300 in defensive efficiency as McNeese State is currently ranked 318th in adjusted defensive efficiency, 271st in defensive effective field goal percentage, and 343rd in the nation in defensive foul rate.

Northwestern State is somehow even worse on defense as they are ranked 345th in overall adjusted defensive efficiency, 305th in defensive effective field goal percentage, 330th in defensive 2-point percentage, and 275th in defensive foul rate. McNeese St is the favorite in this game as they are slightly better offensively but the main thing they do well is rebound the basketball. They are currently ranked 47th in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage and 35th in foul rate drawn.
This means they hit the boards hard and draw a lot of fouls which should lead to a lot of free throws with the clock stopped. Teams from the southland conference also never give up till the very end and we frequently see teams foul down by even double-digits to extend the game. With that being said, I am rolling with the OVER 154 points at -108 in the McNeese State vs Northwestern State Southland Conference matchup for one of my most confident college basketball picks of the night.

Sam Houston State is a team that I have not bet on a ton but they have been good to me when I have trusted them. I think they are in a really good spot tonight vs this California Baptist team who was one shot away from losing to UTRGV at the buzzer last night. In these two teams last matchup, Sam Houston State was a small road favorite, but California Baptist jumped out to an early halftime lead. Sam Houston State then roared back and ended up winning the game by 5 with an impressive second-half performance from Savion Flagg who dropped 28/8/3 on 50% shooting.
I think Sam Houston State will get off to a much better start tonight as they have been really good in the opening 20 minutes since their last matchup against California Baptist. California Baptist can be very inconsistent on offense at times as they are currently ranked 223rd in adjusted offensive efficiency, 295th in offensive turnover percentage, and 135th in offensive effective field goal percentage. Sam Houston State can force a lot of turnovers on defense with their quickness as they are ranked 58th in the nation in defensive turnover percentage. I think Sam Houston State can get off to a much better start tonight in this matchup with the Lancers, so I am rolling with Sam Houston State 1H ML at -135 for one of my most confident college basketball picks of the night.
