Notre Dame vs Rutgers Prediction: Points For Both Notre Dame & Rutgers
We'll conclude our warm ups for the Big Dance in style Wednesday night. The big conferences will finally make an appearance and I for one can't wait. It's going to be special watching schools I've actually heard of and to celebrate, we should bet on them. I originally wanted to go player prop, then I pivoted to team total only to resort to a side. Just as I was typing it up, it hit me. This isn't a side. This is a total. Easily. I don't normally pull the curtain back like that but I had to show exactly how deep I'm going into these games. I'm turning over every single stone here people. For us. We need this.

Rutgers/Notre Dame Over 131.5 (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)
I had to dust off the old BetMGM account for this one and it felt good. I like that book. It's just that I have no patience. The other books seem to post earlier and I always just get down there. I will say I do like having action at BetMGM though and they have the best number here. The others are at 132 for -120 so this is pretty much a deal. If you like the over which I do.
Here's the thing. We have to take the over on this game. It's Wednesday night, we're getting ready for a Thursday that will feature basketball all day. Most of us with a brain are calling in sick to our jobs. Most of those people are drinking all day (responsibly) while gambling on the teenagers. You don't go into a day like that with an under. It's just not done.
Bet $5 on the MONEYLINE for either Rutgers or Notre Dame and win $200 if your team wins
Luckily for us, this game has undercover over written all over it. We have the Big Ten to thank for that too. There are so many teams in that conference that play slow that it messes with a team like Rutgers. My theory is that Rutgers doesn't want to play slow. They're just doing it because the other teams do. It's a classic peer pressure situation.
The Scarlet Knights will have Notre Dame Wednesday night and while the Fighting Irish don't exactly play fast, they don't play at a snail's pace either. We're looking at 65.7 adjusted tempo according to KenPom. I'd call it a slight pace up spot for Rutgers.
The good news is, the Fighting Irish offense is good. The kids can shoot. Like all of them. What ties this whole thing together is Rutgers' defensive numbers at home on the season are what's making this total so low. They aren't the same defensively on the road (.893 vs 1.066) and this game is not at the Jersey Mike's Arena. I doubt they will stop Notre Dame from scoring at will.
You would have to go all the way back to Wednesday, February 9 to see the last time a Notre Dame game go under 131.5. Since then they've seen eight straight games go over that number. They don't play defense so I doubt Rutgers stays under 65 or so. If that happens, we should catch a nice over that will propel us to the greatness that awaits on Thursday.
