March Madness 2022: Predictions for Every 8 vs. 9 Game

This article will be dedicated to the eight vs. nine games. These are typically the games that are projected to be the closest. As we get into these battles, that narrative holds up again this year. The first eight vs. nine-game I want to jump into will be an affair between the Golden Eagles of Marquette and the Tar Heels of North Carolina. I love this spot for UNC due to the fact that they will be able to control the glass and the paint. Marquette is not a very good rebounding team, and they do not present a ton of size. Bacot and Manek should have their way against this undersized Marquette roster. I also think UNC holds the advantage at the guard position and could be a very scary number eight seed in this tournament.

San Diego State vs Creighton Prediction
The second game we will have will be a matchup between the Blue Jays of Creighton and the Aztecs of San Diego State. This is again a tight spread, and rightfully so, as both of these teams advanced to their conference championship but came up short. San Diego State is the number one defense in the nation, so the Blue Jays will have a tall task ahead of them on Thursday night. The play I am turning to here will be San Diego State on the short money line. They have too many guys who can sit down and defend and make this a very difficult night for Creighton. They are also a better offensive team than years past, mostly due to the contributions of Cal transfer Matt Bradley. Bradley will show up in a big way in this game and help lead the Aztecs to a win.

Boise State vs Memphis Prediction
The next one I wanted to get into is going to be a matchup between the Tigers of Memphis and the Broncos of Boise State. These two teams had very good regular season, but they will both have a tough task in this setting. Memphis comes into this game ending their season red hot, while the Broncos were pretty consistent throughout their season. I think this game will be back and forth, so I am going to take the points with Boise State. This is a veteran roster who should be well prepared for the big state and, I believe, stays inside the number and possibly wins outright.

The final game is going to be on Friday, and it will concern TCU and Seton Hall. I did a full write-up about this game earlier in the week. I absolutely love Seton Hall in this spot. They should be able to cruise to a win due to their superior guard play in Jared Rhoden and Myles Cale. I love the line we are getting in this game, so I will be on the Pirates!
