Purdue vs. Texas Best Bet: Can You Trust the Longhorns to Keep It Close?
We already know no one has a perfect bracket and if you had Baylor, Kentucky. Tennessee or Iowa winning it all or making the Final Four good luck (we did not). Our Final Four is still alive, and we thought the East was the craziest region when the brackets came out. It has proven to be correct as we had Baylor gone, and now the question becomes will Texas or Purdue win because the winner here has a great shot at reaching the Final 4. So this game is crucial to both teams as both the Big 12 and the Big 10 have performed well in the tourney so far.

Purdue everyone knows about their two stars Jaden Ivey who looks like a future Ja Morant, and Zach Edey, who looks like a smaller Shawn Bradley. What if I told you that Edey doesn't even average 20 minutes a game this year (18:45)? That leaves Ivey and Trevion Williams as the only guys who average over double-digit points, and this is a one-man show( Ivey). On top of that, this team was 213th in the country at free-throw shooting, and if you don't believe that doesn't matter, you haven't been watching these games as the front end of 1, and 1's will kill you if you keep missing them. What this game will come down to is Purdue's excellent offense as they are top 7 in most categories against a defense like they haven't seen in the Big 10 in Texas, who is one of the best, giving up less than 60 a game for a team that scores over 80 that's going to take some time to adjust too. Purdue's offense hasn't lived up to its over 80 a game status as in the last 11 games. They have scored 70 or less in 8 of them.

Chris Beard is the most hated man on the left side of Texas, but in the middle of Texas, he is loved, and he has experience in these tournaments, and that might be the X-factor today. This team plays defense that simple (only three teams have scored over 70 in regulation time). They will wear you down and make you earn every point, and even though their tallest player is only 6'9, they have tons of height and length with long arms, and they will make you adjust shots. As we mentioned, Edey plays less than half the game. If he gets in foul trouble, that will change the game fast. We said Purdue is pretty much a two-man show. Texas is a team with five guys averaging over 9 points led by Timmy Allen and his 15 a game. This team doesn't play many guys and reminds me of the old Razorback's 40 minutes of hell. With an experienced coach with one of the best defenses in the country, this team just shut down the scorching Hokies. It's time to shut down Ivey, and if they do, this game is theirs.
Purdue has been awful ATS this year, and the cover against Yale was their first in 11 games, and we had them on Friday. We also had Texas over Virginia Tech, so we feel we know these teams well, and we feel points are the way to go. The line has dropped off the 4, so we recommend buying the half point and taking Texas +4 -120 as protection, but we will not be surprised if Texas wins and advances to play the Peacocks next week. Take the points, and let's go horns today because if they win, we will all be drinking Boilermakers tonight. After all, there are no games tomorrow. Hook Em but don't get hooked.
