Texas Tech vs. Notre Dame Prediction
Texas Tech comes into this game after an absolute rout of Montana State, where the Red Raiders had one of their best shooting performances of the season. In their opener, they scored 97 points, shot 60% from 3, 71% from 2, and 67% from the free throw line so they dominated the paint and knocked down outside shots at a high clip. The offense has been their Achilles heel this season so if TTU starts to get hot from the outside, the rest of the field needs to watch out.
On the defensive side of the ball, Texas Tech has been elite. They are currently ranked number 1 in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency, 10th in defensive turnover percentage, 13th in defensive 2-point percentage, and 20th in defensive effective Field Goal percentage. Texas Tech will have their work cut out for them against a very solid Notre Dame group who is so dangerous because of their ability to knock down three-pointers.
Texas Tech has been an average to above-average offense this season as they are currently ranked 46th in adjusted offensive efficiency, 47th in effective Field Goal percentage, and 17th in 2-point percentage. They really like to attack the paint and play very physically on the inside. They are also ranked 38th in offensive rebounding % so they really attack the offensive glass for second chance opportunities. Texas Tech is very consistent in how they have played all season and I think this is a good matchup for them against a Notre Dame team who plays with more finesse.
Bet $5 on the MONEYLINE for Texas Tech vs Notre Dame and win $200 if Your Team Wins
Notre Dame is a team who wants to beat you with their outside shooting. They are currently ranked 28th in adjusted offensive efficiency, 24th in effective Field Goal percentage, and 10th in 3-point shooting as a team at 38.1%. Those are very impressive numbers, but Texas Tech has big and athletic guards on the perimeter who should be able to contain Hubb, Ryan, Wertz, and Goodwin to limit their 3-point opportunities. Notre Dame also is not very deep at all and really only runs a 7-man rotation with 6 of those guys playing a majority of the minutes. It is very possible that Notre Dame could get into foul trouble trying to defend guys like Bryson Williams, Kevin Obanor, McCullar, and Terrence Shannon Jr. who are very physical. If that happens, I really think Notre Dame is in trouble as they don’t have too many scoring options other than their starting 5. Notre Dame struggled this season against teams with above-average defenses like Indiana, Saint Mary’s, Illinois, TAMU, and Duke. I really think the length, athleticism, and toughness that Texas Tech brings on defense is going to bother Notre Dame and should throw off their offensive rhythm.
I really think Notre Dame is going to have a tough time scoring on Texas Tech in this matchup. Both teams are completely opposite in styles and I really think Texas Tech is going to have a field day on the inside down low. If Texas Tech can shoot the same way they did in their first game, this will be a long day for the Fighting Irish. With that being said, I am rolling with Texas Tech -7.5 at -105 for one of my most confident plays of the night as I think Texas Tech is just going to wear them down inside over the course of 40 minutes.
