UCLA made headlines two seasons ago when they sent from a play-in team to a final-four team. They were one of the best teams in the nation once again last year, and they enter tonight ranked number eight in the nation. Illinois has enjoyed a lot of success in its last three years.
The Illini have put together really good regular seasons in their last few seasons but they have struggled to win the big games. They are hopeful that they can get over some of their woes this season. Illinois was very active in the transfer portal, landing Terrence Shannon Jr and Baylor standout Matthew Mayer. Illinois has looked very good in both of their games this season, and they will look to pull off the upset tonight. UCLA enters play as a four-point favorite.
I will be backing the Bruins on the first-half spread tonight. I really like UCLA to come out strong in this game and jump out to an early lead. UCLA brings a very experienced roster into play, and I think that they are being very undervalued in this spot tonight. I like this Illinois team as the year goes on, but I think it may take them some time to develop good chemistry as a unit. Give me the Bruins to come out and get a first-half cover tonight.
