Florida vs. Tennessee Prediction
The #2 ranked Volunteers face their toughest challenge of the season on Wednesday. The Volunteers are debatably the best team in the country, currently steamrolling everyone in their path. At 18-3, many are already predicting Tennessee to make a deep run in March. First, they have to get through Colin Castleton and the Florida Gators, and with Auburn coming to town this weekend, this is a textbook lookahead spot for Tennessee. If the Vols don’t take the Gators seriously, they will lose outright to the hungrier home dog.
Although Vescovi is the most talented player on Tennessee’s roster, he’s been in and out of the lineup constantly due to injury. It’s been sophomore Zakai Zeigler leading the way for the Vols of late. If Kyle Lofton can focus on eliminating a big game from Zeigler, Florida will not only cover this game, but win.
If you’ve watched Tennessee this season, you know they’ve been closing games out from the three-point line. This team is clutch from deep. Unfortunately for the Volunteers, Florida boasts one of the best three-point defenses in the SEC. The Gators will focus on eliminating the three balls, making the Vols beat them down low. This will cause issues offensively for Tennessee.
It’s been a while since Florida was a dominant force in college basketball. I’m not saying they are on their way to returning to championship form. What I am saying is that Florida presents a brutal matchup and an even tougher atmosphere in the Swamp tonight. With only 30% of bets but 63% of the handle, it's clear where the sharp money resides in this matchup. Don’t be surprised if the Gators win this one outright.
