Oregon vs. UCLA Prediction

We all had lofty expectations for Oregon heading into the season. We’ve been waiting on the Dana Altman experience to bring the Ducks to the next level. Senior Will Richardson is heating up, dropping 52 points in his last three games. They need him to continue taking shots and running this offense. I’ve been impressed with N'faly Dante over the last few weeks as well. Oregon’s veterans are stepping up at the right time. Can the Ducks stay hot and make a last-second run at the Pac-12? I don’t see why not.

UCLA has been one of the most consistent teams in the nation this season. Mick Cronin has his boys locked in after a slight hiccup a few weeks ago when they dropped back-to-back games to Arizona and USC. This is still one of the most complete and consistent teams in the country. UCLA won the first battle at home, but before that, it was Oregon who dominated this series, winners of four straight. We know it's hard to beat a team in conference twice, with how Oregon has looked the last week or so, it may be nearly impossible. This is the Quadrant 1 win Dana Altman needs to put Oregon back on the bubble.

I was expecting this spread to be much larger than the 2.5 points they’re giving Oregon. Short underdogs at home with a winning record have been printing money this season. Oregon looked like one of the best teams in the nation against USC where they dominated both sides of the court. If UCLA has one kryptonite, it’s playing on the road. They haven't lost a home game all year. But if you can get the Bruins on the road, and with Oregon peaking at the best time, I don’t see why Dante and Richardson won’t continue to dominate in Eugene, Oregon.

The Ducks have excelled at home and pulled off some of the best late-night upsets in all of the college basketball over the years. Does Dana Altman have one more upset up his sleeve? In a must-win spot for the Ducks’ postseason hopes, expect nothing but the best from Oregon. They will dominate offensively by getting the rim, using Dante as a high screen and scoring inside the three-point line. Oregon is a rare team that does their damage from inside the arch. Take the points, fade the public, and back the Ducks on Saturday night. Let’s build the bankroll before the big game on Sunday.
