This spread is short. There’s no other way to put it; it’s a crazy number. Portland hasn’t beaten Santa Clara since 2015, a 13-game winning streak. Tonight is the Pilots' first chance of the season to end the streak. For a team that hasn’t found much success of late, this would be a massive confidence builder for the Pilots if they can pull out this win at home in Portland, Oregon.
The Broncos are amidst a potential letdown spot on the road tonight against a team they are significantly better than and historically own. Santa Clara is in the best stretch of their season, coming off four consecutive wins against San Francisco, San Diego, LMU and BYU. These are four solid teams, and two of those wins were on the road as underdogs. At 20-8, there is no reason the Broncos shouldn’t be a larger favorite in this one, which tells me Portland is winning.

If the Pilots want to end this 13-game losing streak to Santa Clara, it must be through Tyler Robertson and Moses Wood. These Juniors are the only bright spot of Portland’s season. It will be all hands on deck to slow down Broncos' star Brandin Podziemski, the Illinois transfer. He's been known to disapear in a game or two this season, and the spread being this short tells me we could be in for another underwhelming performance tonight. If Portland is going to end their drought, this is the year. It’s not a terrible matchup as both teams are very small and play at a similar pace. With the line this short, don’t be square and take the bait on the Broncos.
