To say it’s been a struggle at Georgetown for Patrick Ewing would be an understatement. There is finally some positive momentum building in DC, though, as the Hoyas are coming off their first road win in over two years. Will they keep the momentum going?

Georgetown vs. St. Johns Prediction

It’s been a tough scene watching Patrick Ewing on the sidelines during all these losses. Effort isn’t the issue for the Hoyas, though. We’ve heard from other coaches in the Big East, mainly Ed Cooley, who gave props to the Hoyas for their effort this season. He emphasized that they never give up and fight until the end. He specifically stated that this Georgetown team will cause problems for other teams in the Big East at the end of the season.

Well, now we're here in the final weeks of the regular season, and the Georgetown hype train is right on schedule. Georgetown just beat Butler on their home floor. I don’t care how average this Butler team is; that’s an impressive win on the road for the Hoyas. Coming off that win, Georgetown will feel confident tonight on their home floor as a struggling St. John’s team comes to town.

The Red Storm got off to a hot start in November but, since then, have found little success. The one advantage they have lies in the paint with Joel Soriano, one of the most dominant big men in the country. Georgetown has plenty of big bodies to throw on Soriano and slow him down, mainly Qudus Wahab and Akok Akok (all-time name). These guys are huge, and although they may not be skilled, that’s not what Georgetown will need to win this game. The Hoyas will throw Wahab and Akok at Soriano, cutting off St. John’s best offensive weapon. “DMV” local Brandon Murray is coming off one of his best games of the season, a great sign for the Hoyas as well.

When these teams faced off three weeks ago, Georgetown was close to pulling off the upset and lost by only two points. St. John’s was laying 10 points in that contest and barely won. This time around, the spread is only at 2. Public money is pouring in on the road favorite, but the line hasn’t moved, showing the books are content with being overexposed with bets on the Red Storm. This is a great sign for Hoyas' bettors. This line is also short. I was expecting a team with a winning record to be at least a five-point favorite on the road against Georgetown. The short line is very telling, as Vegas is clearly expecting a nail-biter.

With their newfound confidence after a big win and guard Primo Spears playing his best basketball of the season, the Hoyas will take care of business at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The sophomore almost certainly won't be playing at Georgetown next season after his incredible sophomore season and should have a handful of programs chomping at the bit to bring him in next year. That’s how dominant he’s been at times this season. Patrick Ewing may not be the best play-caller, but his guys play extremely hard for him. Expect nothing different tonight as the Hoyas’ high motor offense earns them their second consecutive Big East win in a row.
