Oklahoma State vs Baylor Prediction

Stillwater is one of the toughest venues to play in the entire country. Although the Cowboys have been average at best over the years, they dominate on their home court. They’ve knocked off TCU and Iowa State at home already, and look to add another Q1 win to their resume tonight on national television.

When these teams faced off in January, Baylor dominated OKST in nearly every statistical category. The Cowboys were without their best player in this contest though. Moussa Cisse may not lead his team in points, but he is the most important player on the roster. Cisse’s presence in the paint drastically improves OKST’s chances tonight. Kalib Boone is coming off one of his most efficient games of the season, dropping 18 points and recording three blocks. This team wins with defense. It doesn’t matter how effective the road team’s offense is; when they get to Stillwater, chaos ensues.

With a top 55 defensive rating, Mike Boynton knows his team’s strength and plays to it. They will press and do whatever they can to take Baylor out of their normal rhythm. Although elite, Baylor is known to turn the ball over (averaging 12 turnovers a game, 187th in the nation). If Cisse can lock down the paint, a plethora of athletic guards will strap up the perimeter, causing serious problems for the Bears tonight.

Baylor will be without their best player, Keyonte George, tonight. I typically don’t fade bad news, but this is a significant loss for the Bears. Without their star freshman, Baylor will struggle to find their groove as they did early on in the season. Adam Flagler and LJ Cryer are great, but OKST’s physical guards can keep up with the Baylor backcourt.

Home underdogs have been printing money against ranked teams this college basketball season. Now factor in Oklahoma State’s recent four-game skid and an extremely short line against a top-10 team in the country and you’ve got yourself one of the stinkiest lines of the season. OKST shouldn’t be a one-point underdog tonight even without George. They should be getting more respect coming off a big win against Texas this weekend. Oddsmakers know how difficult it truly is to win games in Stillwater on the road. Tonight the Cowboys will pull off another upset in front of their home crowd, keeping their postseason chances alive.
