Maxwell Lewis and the Waves travel to Vegas to face the Tigers. Handicapper Krabs breaks this one down with his Pacific vs. Pepperdine prediction.
ANALYSIS

Pacific vs. Pepperdine Prediction: Backing the Waves in WCC Tournament

Pepperdine hasn’t won a game on the road all season. They are 0-12 outside of Malibu. Technically, tonight’s contest is at a neutral site as the WCC tournament begins in Sin City.

Either way, Pepperdine is the favorite tonight away from their home floor. Pepperdine hasn’t been a favorite on the road all year! It seems like oddsmakers are tipping their hand in this one. Now, I’m not saying Pacific should be -10 in this game, but I was at least expecting them to be the betting favorite. Pacific is no Gonzaga, but they do hold a 7-9 record in conference. Pepperdine has two wins in all of conference play. Something is fishy about this line.

Let's break this down with my pick for tonight.

Pacific vs. Pepperdine Prediction

Maxwell Lewis is a future NBA professional. He is a man amongst boys compared to his team and the rest of the conference. At 6’7” and listed as a forward, Lewis could run the point if necessary. Expect him to make a jump to the NBA similar to 2022 WCC graduate Jalen Williams.

Before Lewis gets his bag and heads to the pros, he has one last chance to leave a great impression on all the NBA teams and GMs. This kid can flat-out score. He is fast, has crazy handles for his size, and shoots 35% from deep. If you haven’t watched this kid play, tonight is a great opportunity to see him shine against the 328th-rated defense in the nation. Lewis is coming off his worst game of the season where he shot 11% from the field and dropped only 4 points. Expect him to bounce back in a big way, leading the Waves to victory.

This Pacific team has been such a disappointment compared to preseason expectations. With OKST transfer Keylan Boone and tons of returning talent, Pacific didn’t have the season they expected. Boone had a nice year averaging a little over 13 ppg, but veteran Luke Avdalovic and the rest of the Tigers never really meshed together. They have one of the worst defenses in the country. Maxwell Lewis is going to carve up the Tigers from deep, in the paint, and at the free-throw line.

Pepperdine (-2.5) is currently bringing in 54% of the bets, but over 85% of the handle. Large wagers are being placed on a team that hasn’t won a game on the road all year. Ride with the sharps and back the Waves to get their first win away from Malibu.
