Tennessee vs. Louisiana Lafayette Prediction

Tennessee’s bread and butter, much like Houston, is their tenacity and effort on defense. They are a suffocating group with one of the best defenses in the SEC this season. The Volunteers are ranked in the top three in the country in overall adjusted defensive efficiency, defensive effective FG%, and first in defensive 3P%.

While Tennessee is a fantastic defensive team, they have struggled mightily to score the ball at times. They are not a very good 3-point shooting team, and they recently lost their starting point guard, Zakai Zeigler, to injury and will be out for the rest of the season. Zeigler is the straw that stirs the drink for the already anemic Tennessee offense, so it is extremely hard for me to see this Volunteer offense having a lot of success in this game.

Louisiana is a very talented group that has been solid on defense over the past few weeks, as they have won their last five games in a row while only allowing 49, 58, and 66 points in their three conference tournament games. The fact that this line has dipped down to the 11.5 range tells me that oddsmakers and bettors alike do not expect this game to be much of a blowout (15+), and I think Louisiana has the talent and physicality to bang on the inside with Tennessee and keep this game somewhat close. With that being said, I am rolling with LOUISIANA +11.5 at -115 for 1.5u as one of my favorite plays on the night slate.
