Indiana vs. Kent State Prediction

Kent State won the MAC championship over Toldeo on Saturday night, and now six days later, they find themselves facing off with the Indian Hoosiers in the big dance. Kent State went 28-6 during their regular season and they will look to prove to the world that it is a legit 28-6.

The Golden Flashes are led by one of the most underrated players in the nation. If you have not heard of him yet, you will likely know his name after tonight. Sincere Carry leads this Golden Flashes team, as he averaged a team-high 17.6 points per game this season. Carry also led the team in assists, averaging 4.9 per game. Kent State played in a fairly weak conference, with all due respect to the MAC, but they did face three teams during the regular season that made the tournament.

They lost to Houston 49-44, while also losing close games against Gonzaga and the College of Charleston.

The Hoosiers enter this game feeling good about their regular season. Indiana ended the year with a record of 22-11, competing in one of the toughest conferences in college basketball. They were led by all-American big man Trayce Jackson-Davis. TJD led the team in scoring, averaging 20.8 points per game. If that was already not impressive enough, he also averages 10.9 rebounds per game to make himself a walking double-double. The Hoosiers also have one of the best young guards in the game in the form of Jalen Hood-Schifino, who averaged 13.5 points per game. The Hoosiers enter play tonight as a four-point favorite.

I am taking an alt line and backing the Hoosiers here. I am seeing a lot of love for Kent State, and I could see this one being close. However, down the stretch, I simply think that the Hoosiers have too much for them to handle.

I do not know how the Golden Flashes are going to slow down Jackson-Davis, and if you show him doubles, this Hoosiers team has guys that can light it up from beyond the arc. I expect Mike Woodson to put together a strong game plan to try and take the ball out of Carry's hands and make someone else beat them. I do not think that Kent State is deep enough to do that. Let’s keep rolling and cash in tonight!
