Miami vs. Drake Prediction

The Drake Bulldogs vs. the Miami Hurricanes is the matchup that we are going to dive into for this article. This should be a great matchup on paper, and we will see two totally different styles of play on display here. Drake wants to play at a slower pace, mick the game up, and grind it out. Miami, meanwhile, would love to turn this game into a track meet and get up and down the floor. It will be interesting to see which team can establish its pace.

Drake has been a staple in the big dance the last couple of years, and they would love nothing more than to pull off an upset vs. a very talented Miami squad today. The Canes sat towards the top of the ACC for the majority of the year, and they were in the top 25 essentially every week for the last few months.

The Canes have been led by some of the most talented guards in the nation, including junior guard Isaiah Wong. Wong led the team in scoring, averaging a team-high 16.2 points per game. Wong was one of four double-digit scorers for the Canes, including Kansas State transfer Nigel Pack. One thing to note is that the Canes may be without starting center Norchad Omier who is third on the team in scoring and leads the team in rebounding.

The Bulldogs are led by sophomore guard Tucker Devries who may be the most skilled player on the court today. Devries averaged 19.0 points per game while shooting nearly 39% from three. The Hurricanes enter this game as a two-point favorite.

I know that this line has shot down and moved in favor of Drake, but I am going to trust the Canes here to take care of business and get this win today. I do not expect Omier to play, and I believe that is a big reason that this line fell, but I still trust the guards that Miami has to make enough plays. The Canes need to establish their pace and play with tempo here if they want to pull off this win. This is a dangerous Miami team that I have been high on all season long, and I have to trust them to win their first tournament game today.
