The Maryland Terrapins and the Alabama Crimson Tide will meet up from Birmingham, Alabama, tonight for what should be a heck of a March Madness matchup. Maryland comes into this game confidently after knocking off a hard-nosed West Virginia team on Thursday afternoon.
The Terps' victory over WVU kicked off the tournament, and the game did not disappoint. It was a back-and-forth affair, but ultimately, Maryland made more plays when it mattered most. A strong effort led the Terps from big man Julian Reese who scored 17 points in the game, including some crucial buckets down the stretch.
Alabama, meanwhile, took care of business with ease against Texas A&M CC, although they tragically blew a late-game cover. The impressive thing about their win was their best player and freshmen sensation Brandon Miller was held scoreless. Miller is slated to be a top-three pick in the upcoming NBA draft, and Alabama knows that if they are going to succeed, they will need a better performance from Miller.
The Crimson Tide entered the tournament as the number one overall seed, are the current favorites to win the NCAA Championship, and they come into this game tonight as a 9-point favorite.
I know this will feel like a home game for Alabama tonight in Birmingham but give me the dog with the points. Brandon Miller is currently dealing with an injury, and I question how explosive he will be tonight. I understand this remains an extremely talented team, but 9 is too many points. Maryland is a veteran team that should play this game confidently tonight and stay within this number.
