Tennessee vs. Duke Prediction

Tennessee turned in a great regular season under veteran head coach Rick Barnes, and they would love nothing more than to knock off the hottest team in college hoops today. The Volunteers won their first-round game against Louisiana Lafayette by three points in, and if they want to knock off the Blue Devils, they are aware that they will have to play a much better game on the offensive side of the basketball. That has been the issue for the Vols at times this season.

This is one of the best defensive teams in the nation, but they can really struggle to score the basketball at times., Tennessee also will be without one of their best players tonight Zakai Zeigler who is a key piece of this team as he leads the team in assists and is ranked second in points per game.

Duke, meanwhile, comes into this game on the heels of a blowout win over Oral Roberts. Oral Roberts was a trendy round-one pick to beat the Blue Devils, but Duke silenced the critics as they dominated the game from the jump. Duke is as talented as any team in college hoops, with multiple five Star freshmen on the court and seasoned veteran Jeremy Roach at the point guard spot. Roach is currently playing the best basketball of his season, which is a welcomed sight for the Duke faithful. Duke enters this game winners of ten in a row and a three-point favorite.

I am going to be square here and take the Blue Devils on an alt line at minus two. I jumped on this game as soon as the line dropped, but writing this today, we have to go to alternate spreads to get the -2 number. This is still a very good defensive team in Tennessee, but Duke happens to be a great defensive team themselves. I think when it comes down to it, Duke has more guys that can get a bucket when they need one. The Blue Devils are playing with supreme confidence at the moment, and I think their winning ways continue today.
