Boxing guru Steve Kim previews the Saturday bout between Terence Crawford vs. Shawn Porter and predicts the outcome.

Terence Crawford vs. Shawn Porter Fight Preview, Prediction, and Picks

On Saturday, one of the most anticipated match-ups of the fall boxing schedule takes place as WBO welterweight champion, Terence Crawford, faces former two-time welterweight belt-holder Shawn Porter at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

This is a pairing of two elite 147 pounders, and the winner could be in line for even bigger fights in 2022.

The 34-year-old Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) is considered one of the premiere prizefighters in the sport. He has won a world title as a lightweight, then became the undisputed junior welterweight champion. Then after stopping Jeff Horn in 2018 for the WBO belt, he has since notched four successful title defenses.

'Bud' is one of the most technically sound and athletic boxers you'll ever see. What makes him even more difficult is that he is adept at fighting from orthodox and southpaw. Yet, it's not just his technical mastery that stands out. Crawford has a real mean streak inside that ring and is one of the most savage finishers in boxing.

The native of Omaha, Nebraska, has never really come close to losing a fight. The only knock on him is that he doesn't have many marquee names on his ledger. But then, there's a reason why many of them have consciously avoided him.

The best way to describe Porter is very simple: tough and tenacious. What he lacks in finesse or grace inside the ring, he more than makes up for it with a certain doggedness. Porter is not a particularly stylish boxer, but one that likes to crowd his opponents and make them uncomfortable.

Porter (31-3-1, 17 KO) is perhaps the most battle-tested welterweight in the world. He has faced the likes of Errol Spence (L12), Danny Garcia (W12), Keith Thurman (L12), Paulie Malignaggi (KO4), Kell Brook (L12), Yordenis Ugas (W12), Devon Alexander (W12), and Adrien Broner (W12).

He's not undefeated, but at the same time, nobody has ever had an easy go of it inside the ring with the 34-year-old Porter.

Crawford is the pretty significant favorite here, and for a good reason. While Porter is certainly a fighter to be respected, his opponent is the one with the advantage in overall talent. Crawford also has more avenues to victory in this fight. And while you can expect Porter to be his usual aggressive self in the beginning, eventually, Crawford will begin to adjust and adapt to the inside mauling and begin to use it against Porter.

As the rounds go on, the class will show, and Porter will succumb to the precision of Crawford. So the call is here for Crawford to score an 11th round stoppage.
