Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley Fight Preview, Prediction, and Picks

This wasn't the original plan, but on Saturday night at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, a rematch takes place between Logan Paul and Tyron Woodley. Tommy Fury had been slated to face Paul before pulling out of the bout a couple of weeks ago, citing an injury.

So in his place steps Woodley, who lost to Paul back in late August, in what was a rather dreary eight-round affair.

JAKE PAUL PREVIEW

The story of Paul is well documented. A social media influencer of great note, he decided to take a stab at the world of professional boxing. He followed in the footsteps of his brother, Logan, by first facing British YouTuber, AnEsonGib, and scored a first-round KO in January of 2019. Then he dribbled for NBA guard Nate Robinson off the canvas in two rounds before knocking out former MMA star Ben Askren this past April in one.

Back in August, he defeated Woodley in his toughest test to date. In a fight that was really devoid of any real sustained action, Paul won a split decision by the scores of 78-74, 75-77, and 77-75.

Paul has exhibited some technical improvement and has shown that he has a solid right hand. But it has to be noted that he and his handlers have been meticulous in their matchmaking thus far.

TYRON WOODLEY PREVIEW

Woodley, a former collegiate wrestler at the University of Missouri (where he earned All-American honors), is well known to UFC fans. He was their welterweight champion at one point. He eventually left the UFC after a four-fight losing skid. It was at that point that he landed the assignment of facing Paul in Cleveland this past summer.

Not known as a natural striker, which is natural given his background, he simply didn't let enough punches go throughout eight rounds to get his hands raised in victory. Now given another chance at Paul, it will be incumbent on him to not squander this opportunity.

JAKE PAUL VS. TYRON WOODLEY PREDICTION

The question is, how willing is Woodley to take more chances in this rematch? While not a natural boxer by trade, Paul has honed his skills and enjoys a natural size advantage over Woodley. Neither is a natural boxer, but one seems a bit more comfortable in the boxing ring -- and that's Paul. Expect to see a bit more action, as this has turned into a bit of a grudge match.

But Woodley still won't do enough to win against Paul, who is the favorite and the house fighter in this event. So look for Paul to win another decision.
