Ben Rajavuori breaks down the UFC273 fight card for the Alexander Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie on Saturday. He's eyeing this 3-leg parlay.
ANALYSIS

UFC 273 Parlay Picks: Alexander Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie

After a week-long break, the UFC will return this Saturday with a double-title fight event in Jacksonville, Florida. The first title fight will feature interim champion Petr Yan attempting to avenge his disqualification loss to Aljamain Sterling after an illegal knee handed Sterling the belt 13 months ago. Once that co-main is over, Chan Sung Jung (The Korean Zombie) will attempt to reclaim UFC gold when he faces the defending champion, and number three ranked pound-for-pound fighter Alexander Volkanovski. This card also features several other highly-anticipated bouts, including the return of Khamzat Chimaev.

This article will be my favorite parlay pieces put together in a nice +613 parlay. Then, another article will be my favorite overall straight plays, including the max play and all value plays. So what are the best parlay spots for UFC 273?

UFC 273 Parlay Picks: Alexander Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie Breakdown

Leg 1: Khamzat Chimaev Wins Inside the Distance

I'm starting with what should be the "easiest" and squarest play of the parlay. Khamzat Chimaev (10-0) has emerged as the top rising prospect in the UFC, and Gilbert Burns (20-4) will be his most formidable opponent yet. However, I'm not sure it even matters who Chimaev is facing at this point, as talented as Burns is. If Chimaev wins, he will undoubtedly get his shot at number one pound-for-pound ranked Kamaru Usman. Chimaev is a dominant wrestler who also has tremendous power and hand speed. His most significant advantage in this matchup will be his size. He is incredibly long in his weight class and uses this to smother his opponents with his wrestling. He will have a 4-5" reach advantage in this bout and will also be the taller fighter. This, combined with his dominant wrestling, will be enough to finish Burns inside the distance here.

Leg 2: Ian Garry Wins Inside the Distance

These are going in order of who I have the most confidence in not spoiling the parlay. Garry certainly is another fighter I expect wholeheartedly to have his hand raised on Saturday. Ian Garry (8-0) is the top prospect to emerge from Ireland since Conor McGregor and made a big wave UFC debut with a first-round knockout over Jordan Williams. Across the octagon on Saturday night will be Darian Weeks. Weeks (5-1) lost in his UFC debut to Bryan Barberena back in December and will now try to bounce back against a rising prospect.

This fight should hit the mat and most likely pretty early. Weeks is comfortable wrestling, and he landed four takedowns in his debut. Garry is a predominant grappler and has no issue meeting Weeks on the mat. Don't let Garry's five knockouts give you the wrong impression of this well-balanced fighter. He is as good a wrestler as he is a striker, if not better. He has excellent defensive grappling, and I see his path to victory being a submission here. I expect Weeks to shoot a takedown once Garry pressures him, and Garry's defense will find him a submission in the scramble or even off his back (which is rare, but I wouldn't be surprised in this position).

Leg 3: Marcin Tybura ML

One of the more exciting matchups in the undercard will see heavyweights Jairzhino Rozenstruik (12-3) face off against Marcin Tybura (22-7). The odds have Tybura as the underdog, with most books setting the line on him at +135. I like the dog in this one, and it makes a nice odds-booster piece for the parlay.

Rozenstruik is essentially knockout or bust, which isn't super rare in the heavyweight division. He has twelve professional wins, and 11 have come by knockout. He has gone to a decision in two of his last three fights, and both ended in a unanimous decision loss for the Suriname native. Rozenstruik is a striker, and he has shown to have some trouble against high-level wrestlers, which explains his decision losses.

Well, meet high-level wrestler Marcin Tybura. Tybura has landed at least one takedown in his last six UFC fights, the only one missing being his fight against a great defender in Alexander Volkov. Tybura is no stranger to decision wins, and he has a surprising amount of bouts decided by judges for a heavyweight. Tybura is good at avoiding the big shot, and he uses his wrestling to wear on opponents to grind out his wins.

I expect this fight to start slow. Rozenstruik is not a high-volume striker, which will give Tybura multiple chances to shoot takedowns or clinch against the fence en route to a takedown. Once he gets there, Rozenstruik will look lost. There is a good chance Rozenstruik lands one of those big shots that he always loads upon, but I like Tybura's odds to successfully grapple/wrestle and cruise to a decision win or possibly a late finish if Rozenstruik's tires enough.
