I think one of the more action-packed altercations taking place during the undercard of UFC 274 has no doubt got to be the clash between Kleydson Rodrigues and CJ Vergara. Flyweights have made an absolutely epic resurgence in the past 5 years, and these 2 warriors represent that tried and true testament with being in not only peak physical condition but mental fortitude as they once again look to use their 125 pound bodies to do battle inside of the caged squared circle. Kleydson is coming in as the almost 4 to 1 favorite over Vergara, boasting a record of 7-1 while the more veteran savvy CJ has compiled together a more grizzled fight ratio consisting of nine victories with 3 defeats and 1 draw.Â

Although he is unequivocally favored against Mr. CJ, it is not due to his long tenure in the octagon, as this is to be the former’s debut for the UFC coming off a sublime performance over Santo Curatolo way back in September of the last season of Dana Whites Contender Series. Perhaps one of the primary reasons this debutant is so heavily implied to win might just stem from the fact that he is fighting out of esteemed combat station Team Nigeria, where he is sure to be getting next level teachings and unforgiving looks by any and all gym goers present. He is also a complete physical specimen, looking more like an extra on Game of Thrones than a professional MMA fighter.
Optic test aside, Rodrigues is looking to impose his will with his shooto box - muay thai style, with having his anti takedown Brazilian jiu-jitsu acumen on full display in case things get too spicy for the pepper on the feet for his opponent. CJ Vergara will have in large part relatively similar attributes, but his fighting style tells a different story. A style of fight that has worked out for him so far no question, I do think he is going to find difficulty trying to press the action Tank Abbot style against a rangy shooto box operator like Rodrigues, but I have been wrong in the past and will most definitely bite the bullet in the future.Â
