Brendan Allen vs. Jacob Malkoun Prediction: Ride This Prop Pick for UFC 275

Brendan Allen (18-5) and Jacob Malkoun (6-1) will square off in the prelims of UFC 275. Allen is coming fresh off a submission win over Sam Alvey that he secured in the second round back in February. Allen looked phenomenal in that fight and really showed off his grappling. Jacob Malkoun is coming off a victory himself, picking up a decision win over AJ Dobson in February. Two rising prospects collide in this bout, with neither middleweight currently ranked. However, the outcome of this fight could change that for one of these fighters. I have a prop play on this fight that I love at the number.

Brendan Allen vs. Jacob Malkoun Prediction

I am backing Brendan Allen to win by submission in this fight. This fight should have a lot of grappling and scrambles. Jacob Malkoun has relied heavily on grappling through his first three UFC fights and has averaged 6.93 takedowns per fight. He likes to push opponents up against the fence and use control time to sway the judges. This makes an excellent matchup against experienced grappler Brendan Allen.

Allen is a high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist with 10 of his 18 career wins by submission. He loves working on opponents and finding their back, and he is no stranger to being up against the fence. Allen's striking is superior to Malkoun's, and I suspect Malkoun is aware of this, which means he will rely on his grappling and control time as usual. This will create many opportunities for Allen to scramble and get Malkoun in awkward angles.

Brendan Allen is -300 to win this fight. The oddsmakers give the fight -200 odds to end inside the distance. I think Allen has the advantage anywhere this fight goes, but given that Malkoun will likely stay out of striking exchanges, I don't think we see a knockout here. Allen is at even odds to end the fight inside the distance, but we can get +200 on the submission prop. I like those odds for a -300 fighter who is the more experienced grappler and has over half his professional wins by submission. Take Malkoun to tap in this fight.
