Robbie Lawler vs Bryan Barberena Prediction: Can Lawler Avoid Getting Knocked Out at UFC 276?
In a shocking turn of events, the highly anticipated bout between Lauren Murphy and Meisha Tate has been canceled. Filling in that PPV spot now is going to be Bryan Barberena going up against the ever so "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler. In what could appear to be a father and son having a scrap, Lawler is going to be a mammoth eight years Barberenas senior, while Bryan is going to have an inch of height, standing a cool 6 ft exactly.Â

Robbie Lawler vs Bryan Barberena Prediction
There's no doubt Robbies in the twilight of his career, with his best days of winning the title or winning at all for that matter way, way behind him. Sure he picked up a W his last time out, but the corpse of a shell Nick Diaz is even more washed than he is somehow. The truth hurts but someone's gotta say it.
Gone are the testosterone-fuelled bouts of rage and vigor, and instead replaced with a soy demeanor and pitter-patter molasses shot selection. When you're getting pieced up by Neil Magny of all people it's time to call it quits. If all that wasn't bad enough there is also of course the other side of the coin for this matchup in Bam Bam. He has never quite impressed in the Octagon as much as Robbie did, never contended for title gold, or even is really that much younger age-wise.Â
A perfect middle-of-the-pack master on none-fighter, but what he lacks in physical specifications he makes up for is usually stellar cardio and heart. Nobody was picking him to upset Vicente Luque, but he goes out and has a fight for the ages.
Bryan has these moments of brilliance every now and then but has never quite capitalized on any of them. Strangely enough, however, I think I'm going to side with the Columbian American to pull a fast one over the former UFC Welterweight legend and shock the world this weekend.Â
I am picking this outcome because even though Bryan Barberena has never been anything really special, he still is superior in his current state over a shadow of his former shadow Robbie Lawler. In the last fight against another fossil Matt Brown showed that when it goes and gets tough, Bryan Barberena can be relied upon to get it going early as well as often when hell is breaking loose in the cage.
I don't necessarily think Lawler folds entirely, but I think he survives till the scorecards in a semi-competitive squash match. Give me the over 2.5 to ensure no funny business at the hands of the judges, but also safe and easy cash. Damn it's good to be alive when you grow a pair and bet over 2.5.
