Jalin Turner vs. Brad Riddell Prediction: Can Jalin Turner Keep His Win Streak Going?

Two lightweights go head-to-head tonight in a battle for a ranked position. Brad Riddell (10-2) is currently ranked No. 14 in the lightweight division and was on a seven-fight win streak before getting knocked out by Rafael Fiziev his last time out.

Jalin Turner (12-5), meanwhile, is on a four-fight win streak and will surge into a ranked position with a win tonight. Will Riddell keep his ranked position safe? Or will the potent Turner take his spot?

Jalin Turner vs. Brad Riddell Prediction

This fight is set up to be one of the most intriguing lightweight matchups as far as the future of the division is concerned. Both these men possess highly-polished skillsets, with balanced and calculated attacks. When I initially saw this fight, I had no idea who would win, but the more I research and re-watch past fights, the more I like Jalin Turner.

Jalin Turner is quickly looking like a future contender to me. He has a very balanced attack in the octagon and uses his unusually long reach to its maximum advantage. Turner leans heavily on snapping straight jabs that he throws right up the middle.

These are highly successful attacks for him because of his incredibly long reach. He catches opponents off guard because they think they are out of range, but with his wingspan, Turner finds the opponent on the receiving end of a straight jab right down the pipe.

Both men have little holes in their game. The only area I can confidently say Riddell has a clear advantage in is his striking defense. Turner can sometimes overextend and find himself on the receiving end of nasty counter punches, as told by the three knockout losses on his record.

However, Turner's strengths in this fight outweigh those of Riddell's, and Turner is one of few UFC fighters to have a 100% finish rate with more than six fights in the promotion. Turner's six-inch reach advantage and raw finishing ability, coupled with his underrated wrestling, prove to be a nightmare for the future of the lightweight division. I am backing him to win this fight and join the rankings.
