Michael Johnson vs Jaime Mullarkey Prediction
As if things couldn't get any more bombastic enough, the MMA gods have decided to grace us with the ultimate slobberknocker, Michael Johnson vs Jamie Mullarkey. When I first saw the odds for this fight I was immediately perplexed. Why in the sweet hell is Michael Johnson almost a 2-to-1 underdog against the Australian Bart Simpson? I mean for god sakes this man has won over Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier, what's the catch?Â
Jokes aside the more you look onto it the more you come to realize why Mullarkey is ever so favored to win. MJ's takedown defense is suspect, as evident by the Clay Guida fight last year, he is pushing 50, and historically falters under pressure from fighters gradually over the course of the bout if he can't get them out of there immediately.
Jamie from down under might not be that guy, however. He was brutally tkoed by the human tarantula just a few months ago and has an abysmal striking defense statistic to boot. To put it simply Mullarkey blocks punches with his face, and I don't think it will take more than a few surgically placed strikes to put his lights well and truly out if the opportunity is given to Johnson.Â
So when it comes down to brass tax who wins this bout and more importantly which side do I want to be betting on? I think as far as money lines are concerned they are both kinds of rat-like and fraudulent, with neither being truly indicative of each other's true performance cap.
On one hand, Mullarkey should rarely be a 2-to-1 favorite against anyone in the UFC, on the other Johnson as a severe dog begs for sprinkling but he is simply not to be trusted if his octagon tenure has anything to be concerned about.Â
Instead, I favor playing if the fight doesn't go the distance as Mullarkey either grounds and pounds him to death over the course of three rounds or Johnson gets a sneaky ko as Mullarkey shoots in for a takedown. Play fight doesn't go unless you want your money to blow.
