The UFC returns to the Apex Center tonight in UFC Vegas 58: Dos Anjos vs. Fiziev. It's a battle of the Rafaels, as lightweights Rafael Dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev square off in a five-round bout to cap off the evening.

Fiziev is the up-and-comer in this bout and is looking for a massive win over the seventh-ranked Dos Anjos to get one step closer to a title shot. The books expect him to get it done, as Fiziev enters this fight as the -220 favorite, with the comeback on Dos Anjos priced at +180. Will the UFC veteran stop Fiziev in his tracks? Or will Fiziev crush another lightweight on his way to the belt?

Rafael Dos Anjos vs Rafael Fiziev Prediction

Rafael Dos Anjos brings one significant advantage into this fight: experience. The UFC veteran has fought just about everyone who is anyone in his career, and he is the former champion. Dos Anjos is a black belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist with a heavy concentration on grappling. This will be Dos Anjos' 32nd fight in the UFC, and in that time, he has averaged two takedowns per fight. When you consider the elite level of opponents he has fought over that time, it's more impressive than it sounds at first.

Dos Anjos will most certainly come into this fight with a grapple-first approach. He knows Fiziev is the younger, more powerful striker, but he also knows that Fiziev still has a raw wrestling game. We haven't seen Fiziev on the ground much at all, considering he has stuffed every takedown attempt against him in the UFC thus far, but that will actually play against him here.

Not a single one of Fiziev's five wins in the UFC have come against anyone near the grappling and wrestling ability of Dos Anjos. Even if Dos Anjos gets him down once, Fiziev should be a fish out of water. It would be his first time on his back in the octagon, and it would be in his first five-round fight against one of the best jiu-jitsu artists in the UFC.

Another advantage that Dos Anjos should have in this fight is his gas tank. Dos Anjos is no stranger to the fifth round; if anything, I think he is most comfortable and confident in the championship rounds. He has been there countless times and looked excellent late in fights. This will be Fizievs' first time-fighting in a five-round fight in the UFC, and he has never been past the third round in his professional career.

Even in most of the third rounds, Fiziev has been in, he has slowed down and even lost some of them. He lost the third most recently against Bobby Green, and he also lost the third against Marc Diakese. If he slowed down and lost the third against those two guys, what will happen in a five-round fight against Dos Anjos? Sure, Fiziev could knock him out before it gets there, but Dos Anjos is as tough as they come and has been knocked out only twice in 44 fights. I believe Dos Anjos will lose the first and maybe the second, but if he is not knocked out, he should win this by a 48-47 or possibly even by submission late in the fourth or fifth round.
