Ricky Simon vs. Jack Shore Prediction
It can't be all fun and games with the UFC, as Ricky Simon goes up against Jack Shore in what's "shore" to be a wrestling clinic no matter which way you slice it. Jack Attack is coming off the heels of a dominant showing in UFC London, almost decapitating Timur Valiev en route to a unanimous decision victory. Ricky Simon is also riding fairly equivalent momentum, securing a second-round finish over Aging veteran Raphael Assunanco and looking like a bat out of hell.
Both have been sharpening their hands as of late, but make no mistake; these boys are wrestlers by trade and by heart. When push comes to shove, look for Simon to start chaining together over 6 takedowns simultaneously to get out a pinch, while Shore will take a more methodical grinding approach to the grappling if he gets in a bind as well. Because of this stylistic matchup, I don't see much of a fight-ending blow to come between the two khabib-inspired bruisers.
Sure the grappling might cancel out, and they might be swinging and banging until the cows come home, but I expect a more cerebral go of it by the two gentlemen. Instead, expect Ricky to push the pace early and often, with him desperately trying to shoot for fruitless takedowns, only for Shore to flip the script once Simon gasses from his attempts and inevitably turn the tide for the Brit to win a narrow but clear cut decision.
In order for him to win, he's going to have to stifle the front-runner nature of Ricky, which may prove to be an impossible task 6 ways to Sunday.
